What is an EEG Tech?

An electroencephalographic technician, also known as an electroneurodiagnostic technologist, is an allied health professional who specializes in using electroencephalographic equipment to measure and record the electrical activity of patients’ brain waves to identify brain abnormalities. EEG techs work under the supervision of specially trained physicians and neurologists who use EEGs to diagnose brain and nerve related conditions, such as strokes, seizures, epilepsy, brain tumors, Alzheimer’s disease, sleep disorders, brain damage, encephalitis, and brain injuries, among others. EEG techs play a vital role in data collection that helps doctors devise appropriate treatment plans or assist with medical research.
