JOB SUMMARY Provides direct patient care under the direction of the Clinical Director. Working autonomously, the RN accepts responsibility and accountability for assigned patients as a case manager to plan, implement, and evaluate the care for Wound Care and Ostomy clients according to age-specific criteria. The RN assists in coordinating patient care efforts with appropriate plan of patient care in conjunction with Medical and Clinical staff. The RN will participate in work groups and teams, encouraging the participation of education in current best practice standards of wound care. The RN works within the State Practice Act and follows all hospital policies and procedures. Qualifications JOB QUALIFICATIONS Education: Associates Degree in Nursing is required. Graduate of Baccalaureate School of Nursing Preferred. Credentialed by nationally accredited program of Wound Care preferred and required within 1 year of employment. Licensure: Current RN License in the State of Georgia. Prefer certification by nationally accredited Wound Care body (CWCN, CWS, WCC. Prefer ostomy certification by nationally accredited ostomy body (OMS, CCON). Experience: Two years' experience in an acute care setting preferred. Previous wound care experience required. Skills: BLS certification required, Credentialed by nationally accredited program of Wound Care preferred and required within 1 year of employment. Physical, Mental, Environmental and Working Conditions Works in acute health care setting with adult, neonates, pediatric, adolescents and geriatric patients experiencing a wide range of wound and ostomy related medical problems. Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patients, manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination. Requires standing and walking for extensive periods of time. Occasionally lifts and carries items up to 50 pounds. Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range. Requires working under stressful conditions. Requires exposure to communicable diseases or body fluids.
